As I placed my head in sujood, reminding myself that I was bowing down before the King of kings, it hit me.  

When you see the “servants” of this world bowing before the kings of this earth, there’s always a significant visible distance - a space deliberately kept.

Sometimes, reminders come from the most unexpected places, but Allah knows exactly what you need to hear and when you need it most and in His perfect wisdom, He sends them at just the right time. Alhamdulillah.

I had a moment this Ramadan, though we’re only a few days in, where it felt like this blessed month was slipping through my fingers. 

I haven’t done enough. I’m not making the most of it. I should be doing more. 

The thoughts swirled in my mind, until a heaviness settled in.
