My Heart Was Shaken by This One Comforting Truth

Assalaamu'alaykum,
As I placed my head in sujood, reminding myself that I was bowing down before the King of kings, it hit me.
When you see the “servants” of this world bowing before the kings of this earth, there’s always a significant visible distance - a space deliberately kept.
The king sits high upon a throne, elevated and removed, distanced from his subjects.
That gap is intentional. A display of status, power and superiority.
But Allah, the One true King, exalted above the heavens on His majestic Throne. His power and might are beyond anything our limited minds could ever perceive.
To say we are insignificant in comparison would be an understatement. In truth, we are nothing without Him.
Yet… when we, the humble servants of Allah, lower ourselves in sujood before our Master, He tells us that He is near.
In that moment of complete surrender, as our foreheads touch the ground, He draws closest to us, in a way that befits His majesty. SubhanAllah... Ya Rabb.
He reassures us that He draws near as the Most Loving, the Most Kind, the Most Gentle, the Most Generous and the Most Compassionate.
The One to whom all power and majesty belongs comforts His lowly servant, telling us that there is no distance or barrier between us.
He tells us to call upon Him and He promises to respond.
He holds us in His loving care and listens to every flutter of our hearts.
SubhanAllah, as I bowed down before my Rabb, my heart was shaken by the weight of His love for His believing servants - so Mighty, yet so Merciful… so Elevated, yet so Near...
We have just a few precious nights left of this Ramadan and here are a few heartfelt reminders to carry with you:
- Let your prayer be a sacred meeting - Approach every salah as preparation for your most intimate moment with Allah. Unlike the kings of this world who distance themselves from their subjects, the Greatest King draws near to you in sujood. So prolong it. Feel the closeness in your heart. Pour out your most sincere, heartfelt duaas and don’t lift your head until your heart has truly met with Rabbul ‘Alameen.
- Double down on what you've built - Whatever habits you've nurtured this Ramadan, strengthen them now so they become part of your life beyond this blessed month.
- Welcome silence - Allow more moments of stillness. Let silence become a space for repentance, reflection and rejuvenation. Keep your tongue and heart busy with mindful istighfar, seeking forgiveness with heart presence.
- Ask Allah for the impossible - Don’t limit your duaas. Ask from the One who parted the sea for Musa (as), cooled the fire for Ibrahim (as) and gifted Zakariyya (as) a child in old age. Nothing is beyond Him. Let your duaas reflect your yaqeen.
